I started Still Alice this morning and it was so compelling I had to finish it today. It is beautifully written and takes the reader through a journey of being diagnosed with and accepting of one's Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease. The book is intense and powerful and certainly touched me. I am amazed at the author's restraint in writing from Alice's perspective (yet in third-person). There were moments I felt it could have suddenly switched and taken the perspective of another family member or revealed that the author was on the outside looking in. But it never switched and I understood what it meant to be Alice. This book not only gave me insight into the mind of someone with Alzheimer's but also through Alice, readers are reminded that people with Alzheimer's are to be respected as they are coping and living with Alzheimer's.
